In 1999 Heidi made a tape called Hinterlander Songs and gave it out to a few very lucky souls who then proceeded to play it nonstop. "Biting Ants" remains one of Jason & Lisa Holley's favorites from this recording while one of my personal faves is "The Stand." With any luck, this tape will see the light of day once more. First we'll have to get it out of Jay Paxton's tape player.

After arriving on Maui in the second half of 1999, Heidi began to write new songs, inspired by her beautiful and often bewildering new home. As Providence would have it, she then met up with Will Moore who played encouraging host to her new material. Soon tracks were laid down and many more promised. At first it was thought that a 7" would be nice but then the songs just kept coming so she said, "what the hell, let's make a whole record," or something to that effect. The results can be heard on Hinterlander, the beautiful debut on Snail On A Stick.
